pastor tim martin-rogers eastminster presbyterian church indialantic florida (1)As we pass the one-year mark of being in “pandemic mode” many exciting things are happening as Eastminster continues in to evolve in response to challenges and opportunities. A major change is that Eastminster is holding outdoor worship on Sunday’s at 9:00 a.m. overlooking the Indian River Lagoon. This worship experience enables persons not ready to worship indoors but want an option to online worship to have one. Worship Leader Stephen Downen and your pastors lead this service of popular music and worship. You are invited to bring a lawn chair or use one provided. As with indoor worship, masks will be worn and social distancing and contact tracing will be practiced. No reservations are needed.

A second major change will come on Sunday April 11 as indoor Sunday worship will move from 11:00 to 10:30 a.m. This change is due to comments from worshippers that an earlier time is desirable. Please note that this change comes the Sunday after Easter. We will worship at 11 until then.

A third improvement is that Eastminster continues to evolve its online capabilities. A Technology Team led by Carmen Natschke is days away from upgrading our “hybrid” capabilities that will allow a group to meet onsite with individuals or groups offsite in an interactive fashion. The Technology Team is also busy improving Eastminster’s live-stream, web, and social media capabilities on a weekly basis.

Fourth, beginning Easter Sunday, April 4 childcare will be provided during the Saturday and Sunday indoor worship services for children birth to six years old. The whole family is invited to worship together at the 9:00 service and as they desire at other worship experiences.

Fifth, the number of worshippers permitted in the sanctuary has been increased from 75 to 95 persons. This increase falls within CDC guidelines. Social distancing, masks and contact tracing will still be practiced.

Sixth, Eastminster’s Session approved Communion on Good Friday April 2 at 7 p.m., when we commemorate Jesus’ last hours on Earth with a moving “Stations of the Cross” experience. This will be a musical highlight of the year. This service will be live-streamed, and at home participants are encouraged to prepare bread and grape juice, water or wine to celebrate together. The EPiC worship community will join together in this worship as its last worship before Easter Morning as well so the whole church may be together at this sacred time.

Finally, register on the church website for one of the worship services of Easter April 4. Services will be held on church grounds at 7 a.m. (no reservations are required for this Sunrise service) and at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.

See you this week as we celebrate the ministry of pastor Kristy and next week as Palm Sunday issues in Holy Week. This is a full and poignant time your church is grateful for your encouragement and resilience as Eastminster seeks to love God and others in worship, word and deed.
