“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Matthew 5:16 KJB

As a child, my favorite part of decorating for Christmas was putting up the Christmas tree, adding twinkling lights, and of course, topping the tree with the star. I would sit for hours next to the Christmas tree, staring up at the star. I wondered what those Wise Men could be thinking when they saw that big, beautiful star shining, lighting the heavens as far as they could see. As I grew in knowledge of the parts that have come together to announce the birth of the Messiah, I learned the star was not only a sign of prophecy fulfilled long ago, but also the hope for humanity.

The Wise Men said, “We have seen His star.” The star belonged to Jesus. The faithful Christian, like the star, belongs to Jesus. Every beam in that star shone forth for Jesus. It was His star. May our every action, our every movement shine forth Christ. We may consider ourselves a very small star, but even if people wonder what you are, may they never wonder whose you are.

May God take you through this Advent season as a child in wonderment, letting your light shine to lead others to the Light of the world.
