“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

Luke 2:11

The Messel Advent season begins the day after Thanksgiving. Becky and I have had a tradition of decorating the house and putting up our Christmas tree on the Friday after Thanksgiving. We have collected ornaments throughout our married life, and as we hang each one of them on the Christmas tree, fond memories of people, places and special events come back to life.

It is so important for us, especially in this unusual year of 2020, to reflect on the many happy times we have had in our married life. We have ornaments from when we were married, when our children and grandchildren were born, when we visited many states and countries and when we shared so many holidays with our extended families.
Christmas should be a time of reflection of family, friends and faith. We have a Christmas stocking that reads “Jesus is the Reason for the Season.” We enjoy seeing that stocking every morning during the Christmas season. Christ has been so central in our lives. We spend time during Advent in prayer and adoration of the many blessings that God has blessed us with. Our family gets together during the holidays and we so enjoy sharing our love with one another. We also look and read each Christmas card that we receive and put them in a bowl. We then pray for each of those individuals and families.

Our wish and prayers this Christmas season are that you and your family and friends can enjoy the most joyous time of the year.
