Eastminster Presbyterian Church’s members through their generosity have enabled Eastminster to be a beacon of light to the world and transform lives through Christ’s unconditional love by providing approximately $100,000 on an annual basis to those in need either directly or through our mission partners.
Core Missional Targets
To reach out to organizations in our own community and around the world to assist people and communities with shelter, food and water. We have expanded our missional targets to now include educational materials and supplies as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Our annual budget is $30,600. The following organizations are recipients of our mission budget(CITA, Community of Hope, United Way, Sower’s Field, Brevard Indian River Mission, Daily Bread, Pregnancy Resources, Seafarer’s Ministry, Space Coast Center for Women and Children, the Sharing Center, His Place, African Dream Project, Habitat for Humanity, Pridmore Center, Madagascar Missionary Projects, Nana’s House, St Stephen’s Way and Unique People with Purpose.
In the past two years, we have also had a Mission Match in which a family of the church has contributed $25,000 annually and the congregation has generously matched this amount. In 2020, we raised approximately $49,000 through this initiative. The recipients of these funds are the Madagascar Mission Project, Second Harvest Food Bank, Daily Bread, Habitat for Humanity and the Interfaith Food Distribution Drive, and we will also be using some of the funds in December to provide Christmas gifts to families, individuals and especially children in Brevard County through an initiative that we will be promoting after Consecration Sunday known as the Joy of Christmas.
Eastminster Presbyterian Church also has two other mission-oriented funds during the year. The Women’s Tea event raised over $4,400 for the Dock in Brevard County. The other fund is the Samaritan Fund which provides assistance to individuals and families in need at our church. (Managed by the church itself.) Approximately $2,500 have been distributed from this fund in 2020.
We have food drives and educational material drives throughout the year in which our members donate products through the church as well.

The following organizations are recipients of our mission budget and fundraising efforts.
St. Stephen’s Way:
St, Stephen’s Way is building an affordable housing community, with supportive
services, for homeless families with school children, We are currently doing the
horizontal construction, (roadway, water mains, sewers, sidewalks, underground
utilities, etc,) on acres of land at Crane Creek and plan to finish by March 31, 2022, Eight buildings will be erected, with a total of forty apartments, three bedroom, two bathrooms each, and a community center building to provide supportive services. Construction should be complete by December 31, 2022, and will begin receiving tenants in early 2023. Funds from Eastminster will be used to support
Daily Bread, Inc is a homeless resource center located in Melbourne, FL, begun as
a simple soup kitchen in 1988. The founders, Diane and Bob Haywood had a
vision to ensure that none of their neighbors go hungry. Today, Daily Bread is
feeding a warm nutritious meal to over 150 people a day in a safe and comfortable
environment. In addition, Daily Bread has expanded its services to include:
1) Fresh Start/Hygiene – Daily Bread provides over 40 hot showers to men and
women, every day. When an individual needing a shower signs up, our volunteers
provide them with fresh towels, clean clothes and the necessary hygiene items. We
believe a fresh start can set a positive tone to the day.
2) Assistance with applying for FL ID, birth certificate and SSN cards, free of
3) Assistance with reconnecting individuals with family members and/or loved
ones via a bus pass or airplane ticket.
4) Housing Assistance – On staff we have four case managers who also act as
housing navigators to find the best pathway home for those who qualify.
The Social Services Program addresses the needs of individuals and families who
do not have the means to provide for themselves due to unemployment,
under-employment, low income, physical disabilities, disasters, medical
emergencies and other factors. The program assists with food, utilities,
lodging/rent/shelter, information/referrals, clothing, furniture, baby supplies,
prescriptions, school supplies and holiday/seasonal food and gifts. The goal of the
program is to meet the immediate need of the client in the short-term, and also with
the help of the case worker, identify issues that will help them to maintain
self-sufficiency in the long-term.
With Eastminster funds, The Salvation Army will pay utility bills, help families
with clothing and furniture, provide Back to School supplies, Christmas presents
for children, gifts to nursing home residents and serve holiday meals to those who
did not have a place to go for the holidays.
CITA (Christ is the Answer):
Eastminster funds will be used for our men’s shelter program, providing the
overnight shelter and the 6 month addition program. They will also be used to
furnish the women’s and children’s shelter that will be completed by August 2022.
We should begin the site work on the Women’s and Children’s shelter by the middle
of December. We continue to live by faith here at CITA, with Partners like you
helping meet the needs of the homeless, hurting and addicted. We do not take any
Federal, State or local tax dollars as it is our desire to always be able to keep the Gospel of Christ as the most important part of our Ministry.
Nana’s House is supported by 100% donations, 100% volunteer charity, with no
paid staff, no state funding. WE are an “old fashioned” local community charity.
We have no debt. Our entire community was built by 90% donated materials, labor
and skills. About 10% was the cost of items that cannot be donated, i.e. permits,
city related inspections, etc… Our community has 8 homes, a pavilion, pool,
playground and Stop n Shop. Each Nana’s House foster home has 4 bedrooms, 2
1/2 baths with a one car garage. The foster parents live on our campus for free,
including utilities and they have access to one of our 6 Nana’s House minivans.
They commit to keeping up to 5 foster kids. Our “sweet spot” is sibling groups. We
are the best equipped to house siblings that were originally separated but now can
be under one roof and future sibling groups that we can help to keep together. We
have been fundraising for the past year to install a commercial grade playground
on our campus. The original playground was donated 14 years ago and is starting
to show some major wear and tear. We currently have 48 children in our Nana’s
House community so the playground is the hub and used daily. We will not
purchase the playground structure until we have 100% of the N needed to complete
the project. So any amount that could be used to get us to our goal of $100K would
Neighbor Up Brevard/The DOCK:
Neighbor Up Brevard funds the ongoing operations of the Dorcas Outreach Center
for Kids (DOCK). The DOCK is celebrating its 17th year of operation in the
Booker T. Washington neighborhood where it contributes to family stability and
the economic vitality of this struggling community. Last year, we served 93
(lowered due to COVID precautions) at risk children and teens coming from
low-income households (most earning less than $25,000/year). The children and
teens who come to the DOCK after school and during the summer receive
academic support, positive role models, cultural enrichment experiences, healthy
snacks, and spiritual guidance. By providing support the children need to be
successful in school and experiences designed to inspire them to set goals for their
lives, we are putting more kids from this once-troubled neighborhood on the path
to career success.
Interfaith United Food Distribution:
Interfaith United’s UNITED IN COMPASSION program represents the combined
efforts of faith based, civic and government organizations to serve our community.
In response to the COVID 19 pandemic, our community worked together with our
county’s emergency response team to distribute USDA boxes to nearly 1000
families per week. When those boxes ended our combined faith centers raised
funds to purchase produce for 350 families in our community.
Weekly food distributions will begin again in Jan. to continue to relieve food
insecurity in our wider community. We have been distributing vegetables and
staple goods to about 250 families per week which cost about $800 per month. We
are writing grants and seeking business partners to be able to provide for even
We provide weekly recovery groups and meetings, as well as individual assistance
that is available to the community, many of whom are homeless or in need of
recovery. We provide recovery services through Restoration House, a ministry of
His Place, that has been in existence for over 25 years. Restoration House is an
18-bed facility for men recovering from drug/alcohol addictions. It is a faith-based, comprehensive 6-to-12-month residential recovery program, designed to help men overcome life controlling issues. This is done through individual and group
counseling, mentorship, spiritual guidance using the 12-steps, weekly meetings and
groups, as well as community service involvement. Men are required to be
employed, work during the day, and participate in the program schedule, evenings
Aftercare opportunities are also provided after men have completed the program.
Community of Hope:
The Mission of Community of Hope is to: “Build hope and healthy families
through a helping hand program of structured housing. Allow families with
children to remain together in a safe and decent living environment so that they
may grow strong, become self-reliant, transform their lives, and crush the cycle of
homelessness and poverty.” We have served this mission since our inception in
2004 and Eastminster Presbyterian Church has walked with us every step of the
way, with a position on our Board of Directors and having had a key role in our
formation and all ongoing operational decisions since.
We have grown from one house serving as transitional housing for homeless
families to now having 35 units serving families in shelter, transitional housing and
permanent housing. We are adding 10 units that we are in the process of building.
We also have expanded beyond the walls of our housing units to help people
navigate out of homelessness and into housing with private landlords, providing
financial support and case management to these families. In the last two years we
have had only 1, out of hundreds of families served, not remain housed. The reason
for this single incident was that the mother passed away. In short, we meet families
where they are on their journey to stability, and provide the support needed to help
them achieve a stable home environment for themselves and their children.
Canaveral Port Ministry:
Canaveral Port Ministry meets the physical and emotional needs of seafarers in
order to share the love and grace of Jesus Christ to meet their spiritual needs. We
provide wi-fi, transportation, lunch, chapel services, friendship, Bibles and a
“home away from home” all free to them. These things are important as seafarers
are usually on the ship for 7-9 months at a time. Each year we host a prayer walk
through Cape Canaveral and Port Canaveral. Walkers collect donations to provide
different language Bibles for seafarers. Prior to the pandemic, we gave away over
