Darice’s Devotion – 15 August 2021

EPC Darice's Devotions

August means we’re already into the last full month (and full heat) of Summer. Time moves fast for some of us! July saw us saying farewell to Pastor Tim, as he and Julie move into international mission work. Our congregation also shared a wonderful Independence Day luncheon and Patriotic Concert. We were truly blessed to be able to spend quality time together in-person, as we are able and comfortable, after such a long time apart due to the pandemic. Though we can’t always predict the future, we can be thankful for our many daily blessings.

Paul’s Letter to the Romans, Chapter 15, Verse 4 tells us, “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, so that by steadfast-ness and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.” Many of us have learned and grown a lot over the years at Eastminster. These are tools of faith we can use to navigate challenging, uncertain times and even build onto an even brighter, Spirit-filled future. This month at our church, we welcome Josh Collins as our new Contemporary Worship Leader and Director of Student Ministries. We’re excited to see how God leads Josh in reaching out through music and to the young folks in our community. We also welcome Chris Palmer as our new custodian. We’re thankful for Chris’ experience in this area and look forward to serving with him.

As our community begins a new school year, EPC will be welcoming new members, new elders, and even hearing sermons from a variety of pastors, as our church continues the search for an Interim. Until then, I’m happy to serve as your Acting Head of Staff, learning from the past, focusing on the present, and excited about our bright future as a church family together.

Peace & Joy,
Darice
